Today has a distinctly Saturday feeling to it though I've no idea why.

So, a quick outing to the supermarket mainly for bread and avocados, but also to fill up with petrol. For possibly the first time ever, I paid over £50 to fill up. Chocolate and ice cream found their way into the basket despite not being on the list.

About a minute after I got home, the skies opened up, and I realised I'd timed my outing perfectly. A quick crack of thunder and now a perfectly blue sky through a very wet window.

I spent a fair bit of this afternoon converting this computer to Linux: It was using Win10 and was apparently "too old" for Win11. From experience at work Win11 is better avoided anyway.

So far it seems to be working bar a couple of niggles, so that's another blow against the global capitalist machine.

A new niggle: computer won't switch on.

A brief phone conversation with the local computer repair shop suggests it's Linux interfering with the way the computer switches on. As the laptop is second hand, and I owned it for seven years, I've been advised that there's no point in repairing it, because the issue is the OS doesn't work with the computer itself.

Loading Linux wiped the hard drive so I can just take it to the tip...

Back home and the summer continues - one minute it's sunshine, then this drops a 10 minute deluge including thunder, lightning and a good deal of hail

I picked grandson up from school today as daughter was having her crohns infusion. We went to the park for a while as it was sunny but a big black cloud was heading our way so we left.
Just as we got into the car on the outskirts of the village (I park there & walk as it's pointless driving in, though many do) the heavens opened!! Absolute cloudburst!

Titan yer tummy

No meatings b4 dinner!
Another day of cycle commuting. Went to visit a pal in Lewisham Hospital on the way home, his thingy came out and he started to bleed so I called the nurse and decided it was time to get out of her way.

I am rather hungry this evening. Missed lunch except for a mini pork pie which breaks my 2025 new years resolution of no meat before dinnertime.

nice cooking smells coming from the kitchen 🤞

A cool and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, with a mix of sunshine and biblical-grade showers.

Slept well and almost got eight hours in. Downstairs, fed the cat, made a :cuppa: and took it back upstairs to do some writing, ably suPURRvised by Madam Boo.

At a better hour, brought the empty bins in. Food caddy was left open (it's an arse to lock / shut btw) and there was an inch of water sloshing about in the bottom. Did some more clearing up in the utility room, and have a bag of old shoes ready for the tip. Finally managed to get to the last mystery cupboard and see what was inside. Amongst other stuff, was sixty bars of soap.

Lovely luncheon of a chunk of melton mowbray pork pie, avocado on toast, plus a tangerine, a kiwi and a pot of tea.

The only thing I've done outside today other than bringing the bins in, was to trim back the rosa rugosa next to the garage side door, as it was dingle dangling at eye level, making getting past a tad awkward. Also tidied up a bit in the garage and did some more writing.

Now watching Deadliest Catch, and I shall put supper in the poppity ping in a bit.
