Hi All,

This morning, I decided to make a rare foray out into the garden. I began to dig up an an old wild rose and about 2 or 3 inches under the soil, I found this 'thing'. The spade caught the edge of it, revealing a gelatinous internal mass. It seems to have a single 'root', to which a couple of tendrils are attached. It is about the same size as a large apple; having been uncovered, it is beginning to shrivel up.

Any idea what it might be ?

Marshmallows don't grow wild, do they?

Why not bung it in a plant pot and see what emerges. Just pray to go it's not a triffid.
