Me and a couple of mates are finishing lejog on 5th august 2009 and have hired a taxi back to inverness, picking us up at around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. If anyone fancies sharing (there is plenty of room) and splitting the cost then give me a shout.

Have you looked at the puffin express? It's a lot cheaper than a taxi. Search for it on here, or google it.

train from wick is about 20 quid and it takes 4 hours, which means we wouldn't get to inverness till about half 8, which won't leave much time for one or two pints to celebrate finishing. and besides not possible to guarantee that they will let the bikes on the train. we know how helpful our friends on the trains can be......

Surely that 20 quid is much cheaper than a taxi. Actually you can get it for even less if you book in advance.

And surely if you've got a cycle reservation (which is bookable online at certain sites) they're obliged to take the bike or else find some other means of transporting you and the bike to your destination.
