Twice on my commute home today, once in Derby and once in Nottingham, I've had some little 'sporty' hatchback pass me and do a US-police style short "woooeep!" siren noise as it's come up behind me.

WTF is that all about?

I had a similar experience but it was a full blown 1980s Panda siren behind me. I pull over at a zebra (and parents were stopping their kids from crossing thinking a cop car was coming) and we all look around to see a beat up hatchback with two very sheepish looking young lads in the front seat.

No "cop car" ever came. Sploged the details on the crimestoppers website.
