New cassette and chain

Hi all i'm wanting to replace my rear cassette and chain on my GT aggressor 3. I've had the bike best part of 5 years and never changed anything I don't really understand much about bike parts etc. I just need to know is there a certain cassette and chain i need or does all fit all? Oh and its a 8 speed. Whats the best ones to buy and where from? Any web links would be great. I don't want to spend loads though as i only use the bike for work and abit of pleasure riding.

You will also need a chain-whip and cassette lock-nut for the removing and replacing the cassette.
