New for 2012, the Newcastleton Cross-Border Classic Sportives will provide two days of road riding in the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and Northumberland. Taking place over the weekend of 31st March and 1st April there’ll be a choice of up to four route distances ranging from 45 to 90 miles to ease you into the sportive season. Entry costs £15 for one day or £25 for both.

Organisers SIP Events will be providing all of the features riders have come to expect from a first class sportive – well marked and signed routes, feed stations stocked with energy drink from our sponsors Accelerade, broom wagon, mechanical assistance and event photography by JoolzeDymond.com. Every participant will also be eligible for a free draw to win some superb products from event sponsor Lezyne.

The weekend will offer two routes heading south into England on Saturday (45 or 90 miles) and two heading north in Scotland on Sunday (50 or 75 miles). Choose either route on either day, or just one day riding and the other day exploring some of the many other activities the area has to offer. All of the routes start in the village of Newcastleton.

The weekend marks the start of the new Newcastleton Cycling Festival, a week of cycling events based around Newcastleton including a hill climb TT on Tuesday evening and off-road events using the local 7Stanes mountain bike trails.
