Could you not just buy cheap glowsticks? Sure they don't last long but don't think they cost much. What about phosphorus paint?

It's gloomy-ish here from 00.30 to 02.00, then it's daylight for the rest of the time.

But it will get darker quite quickly: by mid-August it'll be dark by about 20.00.

It is depressing (especially for SAD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder) bastards like me) but I'm planning my winter escape!
