Get your rocks off
I have just purchased a new road bike and I am very pleased with it however everytime I see an old steel road bike I want one be it a Pug or Carlton. There is something about an old racer with down tube shifters I like.

Maybe it just a yearning for lost youth  my first bike was a Carlton Contenental in 1964 or is this the N+1 I read about?

Biggs, I am in Chadwell Heath, Essex.

Gary, that is a beauty mate, what year approx, is Leader the make or model.

As for another bike my wife still thinks my new one was not needed as I already had one an mtb.

Stlll we live in hope, I can always claim I found it in a skip ^_^

Recently sold my retro bike to pay for a reserve for my modern bike before my LBS sold it on. It was a '79 Viking Vision, wasn't exactly high end or anything like Gary's Leader, but rode very well.

I'm thinking of buying another retro bike some time in the future, but something along the lines of Gazelle or Gios...

Kinetic, your Viking is the type of bike I am talking about, not high end like Garys but a nice bike. Biggs has it right, steel is real.

Do you mind if I ask how much you sold your Viking for? I will almost certainly get a steel later in the year.

Retro road bikes are available on eBay from anywhere between £20 for gas pipe bikes and £300+ for Reynolds 531 framed bikes.

Here's my Dawes Echelon:
