 PC's are the most useful things, until they go wrong.

Press the start button last night.....nothing
Try it again....nothing, no life whatsoever. Bugger !!!!!

Panels off, check all the connections, check the fuse, try another lead, try another socket.....nothing

Not really knowing how to check the PSU properly, checked various plugs for any voltage....nothing.

PC world, got a bigger wattage PSU for £30.....et voila. I'd have been gutted if it was something else tho

How much would that have cost for PC World to identify and fix ?
Anyone else like a bit of DIY ?

Would have cost you a fortune for them to do it...... you did get one with a good wattage, so you'll be sorted !

That was lucky, when mine blew the powersurge took out the motherboard as well. A friend fixed it for me at £35 for the PSU and £120 for the motherboard. Had there been labour on top it would have been uneconomic. As it was I needed to pay PC World £70 to reinstall Win XP as mine didn't recognise the new motherboard.

I built my current PC a couple of years ago - it's not difficult at all, and have done it many years earlier. Even managed to get SATA Hard drives (different connectors) installed when my version of XP was made before they came out...

Just takes time !!!
