LOL. I actually saw a couple of those on Sunday when I was looking around an LBS for some bits. Never seen road bikes that small before....sort of cute really
I have to say though that they looked way too small for a 12 year old, unless he was particularly little. They really were 'kiddies' bikes.
I got my first road bike when I was 12 and it was just a smaller sized adult bike...and I wasn't exactly a big 12 year old either.
The 'youth friendly gearing' is a misrepresentation. Given it's size, you're looking at C or at best B category. With a 44 ring I'd guess you wouldn't get away with smaller than 14 on the back.
