Are they cheap to make because we're flooded with them nowadays, and every uneducated, selfish, self-centred plonker seems to be able to get on them and show the nation what vacuous souls they are.

And kids are aspiring to be like these faux celebrities - mad.

And what's "real" about them? They're edited to death and you'll probably only find one or two mildly interesting bits that they managed to capture during 8 months of constant filming.

And then they have these so-called "celebrities" on the breakfast TV shows (which really shows up how empty headed most of them are).

And ...

Rant over.

... cheap to make ...

Got it in 1

Plus they often have an element of revenue raising like voting to get someone on/off using a premium rate line.

So you've watched them all to form an informed decision?

I saw an interview with Alan Sugar where he said that there were several hundred hours of The Apprentice for each hour that was filmed. The stuff they leave out must be dire.

You have to hand it to the people who dream them up, though, trying to think of a concept that's not been tried before.
It's just getting ever more tenuous.

How about, for example, the latest one that's about to hit our screens called 'Back On The Job', where C-Listers (at best) go back to doing what they did when they first started work.

very few so-called reality shows are anything other than gameshows; a winner is usually crowned and gets a prize (even if the celebs have to give it to charity, unless they're bez).

true reality tv was the likes of airport and driving school which made ordinary people famous. even big brother never had an effeminate fat man speaking russian into a walkie-talkie…
