Can't really see how it works effectively. Using that stand, surely the front wheel will be wobbling all over the place making the bike unstable to work on.
Why not spend a bit extra and buy one of these instead

It is one of the most useful things I have ever purchased and I think many on here would agree it's a great piece of kit. The same stand is also available from other online bike stores (if you don't use Wiggle)

I've got one like the OP (but even more wonky!), and if you don't push it around the front wheel stays put, and what's more you can either attach string to the handlebars and top tube to stop them moving, or just put some books either side of the wheel. Problem solved and a lot cheaper than £50. Obviously not as nifty as the more expensive one, but some people just can't justify it...
