My VDO 'puter is misbehaving
After not using the bike for a month over the snow, I find the Sender unit is not transmitting on each pass of the magnet, so the speed varies from 22/9/15/23 and, obviously distances etc are all haywire.

I've replaced the battery (it's <1yr old anyway ;)), done a Digi-Reconnect - to no avail. Battery in the head unit appears good and strong (equally <1yr old).

Anyone any ideas ?

Thanks, HJ - Done

[The thread was initially written as a PM for you, then I decided to ask all of CC ]

My wired VDOs have been suffering from damp - presumably starting with condensation. Dry them out and they're fine again.

They shouldn't of course. I've been meaning to contact VDO but haven't got round to it.

Mine (wired) was misbehaving. Then it stopped. Thought it was the reed switch. Turned out to be a break in the wire which wasn't visible from outside. Rewired and now OK again

I can't get wireless ones to work (I have tried)

I emailed VDO and "you can send the bike computer for technical review with a brief description of the error".

So I'm doing that.

Will update later.

I seem to remember that VDO's come with a five year warranty, so if it is something more that a flat battery you should get a new one.

I'm kinda hoping that:
- my one is beyond repair
- the model I got (C3) is no longer available ;)
- I get an upgradereplacement of an X2DW  ...

... but I doubt it.

Shouldn't be interference for two reasons:
- it's a VDO !
- haven't added anything to the bike
- only have a tiny wee 'emergency' flasher and it wasn't switched on - and all has worked well with flasher on before.

The mystery remains - though should be in Germany by now

O ye of little faith ;)

VDO have come up trumps, as today I have received a brand new X2DW ;), which seems to work; now to fit it to the bike ...

So good customer service from VDO. Well recommended.
