The middle bit
The middle ring on my LHT is completely shot so thinking of replacing all 3.
Looked at an XT triple set but they are all too small, currently running 48, 36, 26.

Nearest i can find for reasonable money is this :

Why is it called a compact ?I thought that applied to the cassette.
Any idea if that would fit an LHT ? The current one has 5 bolts the same as that.

I use it to commute and tour, about 5 - 6000 miles a year so needs to last, hence the steel rings.

Last question (for now), is 2.5mm difference on the crank length going to make much difference for £15 extra, i'm very tall so guess it will.
Thanks in advance.

It's referring to a compact chainset - which has a 5 bolt fixing and 110mm Bolt Circle Diameter.
The smaller BCD lets you go down to a 33T inner ring, hence Compact.
This 110mm BCD was also used by older MTB chainsets, with a 74mm BCD mounting for the inner ring.
Now, if all you need is the middle ring, I'd give Spa a holler and get one of these for £11.
It's not steel, but Dural is quite hardwearing.
Failing that, if you're dead set on steel rings there's any number of dirt-cheap chainsets with 48/38/28 steel rings.
CRC have them for a tenner.
Hope this helps.
