hi, new to the forum wonder if you experts can help me ?
recently been getting into road riding wanting to build my own hybrid.
after asking a fue people i know if they had any old racers in there garages my friend said she had an racer style bike in her shed which her x husband had brought years ago.
when digging it out it turned out to be a rixon.
when my friend quoted how much it cost him back in the day i thought id research it.
does anyone else have any info on rixon?
she thinks its from the 1990 era. aparently it was only riden a couple of times then he brought a new lambo countash as a toy.
its in really good condition. its got omega v wheels and shimano 105 gear through out.
i put a magnet on the frame and it was magnetic. suprised as the bike is amazingly light.
has any one got a rough value on the bike i would love to hear from them.
struggling to upload a picture of it as its on my phone and im not that great when it comes to computers.
was thinking of putting the bike on ebay.

well, the plan was to build a hybrid bike out of it but..done a little reasearch on it and was a high end bike make in the 80's 90's.made to measure bike made by rick green of manchester.
just dont want to put flat bars on it if its worth a fue bob and take its originallity away from it as its completely original and mint. :-)

You asked around for a bike and you were lucky enough to be given one. If it's your size I second biggs682, keep it and make the most of it. As for Rixon, never heard the name before other than what I've just seen having Googled the name, sorry
Welcome by the way
[EDIT] oops, slight cross with your last reply.:welcome:

Frame was built by by Neil Shankland when he was building frames for Rick Green Cycles, UK. S/N is R131. Reynolds 753 tubing, Cinelli BB, Campagnolo dropouts. Weights 8.24 kg,
Found this info on the frame, does this mean anything to anyone ?

A lightweight 753 frame is (imo) a great frame to ride !

If I didn't have a 753 frame already, I'd certainly be interested in buying it. You'd have quite a lot of interest in this bike, if you put it on Ebay.

You'd have to spend a fair bit of money to get anything 'better'. If it were me, I'd just use it.

To give a value on it, is difficult; as with many bikes, it'd probably be worth more if 'split' into the component parts.

. . . . . . . . which would be a shame, imo.

Just looked at the bike to find allez written on The rear hanger wheel holders. Does anyone know what allez is. I thought alley is specialised ? Is this area called The drop outs ?

Allez is French for Go. Means bugger all TBH !

Nice bikes Rixons - was a regular in Rick's shop for years ! His son Paul ran the shop - he was a good wheel builder.

Value is what someone will pay - who knows. Depends upon condition. No more than a few hundred though.

I was in Rick Greens on Thursday best LBS in my area. Paul is sorting my headset and cutting the steerer on my carbon forks. Nice guys who genuinely try to help. It is a shame framebuilding is no longer common in the UK.
