A quick look at the map suggests you've got plenty of scope once out of the ring of motorways. Just get a 1:50,000 OS map (or look at it online at www.streetmap.co.uk) and make up your own routes using the yellow roads - out towards Chaddesley Corbett for instance.

If you want hills, keep around the Clent, Lickeys and Windmill Hill area. Heading towards Worcester it gets flatter, until you hit the Malverns.
I'm too looking for some good routes.

The Beacon Road cycling Club does lots of rides around the south of Birmingham - see http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/
There's an introductory ride each month and regular C rides which are shorter and slower than the A & B runs. There's also an informal social ride from Tardebigge on Thursday mornings with a range of speeds! Bikely has lots of BRCC runs which are usually good routes south from Northfield.
