    Unfortunately I feel similar things would have happened in many cities and towns throughout the UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Didn't the same kind of free bike project also fail in other cities for the same reason?

    This happened with the first scheme of its type in Amsterdam, back in the sixties. All the bikes were nicked or ended up in the canals.

    It's happening in Paris at the moment, they're replacing several hundred bikes a month. And it'll happen in London too.

    I saw this lot in a park in Holland recently, maybe they could nick some of these to make up the loss!
