I bought a pair of Sealskinz Road Gloves (£34.99) and last night after riding for about 30mins they were completely soaked. Needless to say I want my money back.
Searching on the net and I found an article with regards to testing "Waterproofness", apparently its only 100% waterproof for 60 seconds!

Below is the original thread from the MTBR Forum

I'm looking for a pair of Gloves that are actually Waterproof and not according to Sealskinz. Any recommendation?

Thanks in advance

The rain the south had yesterday, nothing is going to keep your dry! i had waterproof overshoes, waterproof trousers and a waterproof jacket, still got wet. just not as wet!

I find neoprene tactical gloves very good in the wet. Always keep my hands warm and although they get wet through don't suffer from that heavy, sodden feeling.

Im glad Im not alone here, it seems sealskinsz failure is to do with quality control rather than waterproof membrane failure. These gloves were once waterproof but not anymore, I even tried applying Nikwax TX but same prolem. It looks like the memrane is somehow damaged.

Im contemplating buying one of the following.

Macwet Winter Gloves

Madison Waterproof Gloves http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/PriceDrop/12/Madison_Tempest_Waterproof_Winter_Cycling_Gloves/5360047178/
DHB Gloves

Your advice please.

How did you wash them? I've heard the membrane is easily damaged if washed at too a high a temperature.

Washed them with Nikwax Soap at 30 degrees and applied Nikwax TX Waterproofer on the outside. I heard that detergent based soap is not good for any breathable material.

I got some altura gloves, with an inner lining that makes them tricky to put on if your hands are damp but they're very good, the gloves will get sodden if the rain is heavy but your hands saty dry, and they're warm too, had them for two years now
