I'm doing a 300 mile tour in 2 weeks and it was suggested I change my seat/ saddle from the big gel filled one that I had.

I haven't got a clue what to go for, but after chatting to the guy in the shop, I've purchased a Selle Italia Q-Bik.

I'm on a hybrid and I weigh about 16 stone.

Is this a good purchase?

Dunno... only you can say.
How does it feel?
Selle saddles are generally comfy, well for me anyway.
Well anyway it's got to be better over long distances then a big gel filled one.

I've not fitted it on yet, so I won't be able to try it until tomorrow evening. I guess I really wanted to know whether it was a good seat for purpose or whether it was a bit of a donkey.

I still don't really understand why a big, soft, gel filled seat would be less comfortable.
