My road Shimanos have small holes right through the sole, I presume this is for good airflow in the hot days. Whats the best way of blocking the hole?

LOL !! I'm not talking about the cleat holes !!

Its the hole more towards the front of the sole.

Sounds like the rectangular space which is ready to receive cleats for spd pedals.

I use duct tape - goes on in the autumn and off in the spring.
