Not quite the way I would do it

I would use the lea/Limehouse Cut towpath. Not sure how you would get over West India Dock Road at that point either.

Nip into your local bike shop or libary and get one of Ken Livingstones free cycle maps of London
Spend 10 mins with a highlighter pen working out the best routes
Then try to follow the route
To they wiggle about a bit is an understatment but they are good cycle routes
From my experience it takes about 2 weeks to fine tune a route so you which way is the best way around two sides of a square
I would suggest you do it the first time at a weekend
There is also the TFL cycle journey planner - It'snot bad but does make some silly options
