I thought you were posting to discuss Tenerife Training! That would be a good site for you to take a look at.

A mate lives on Tenerife and he says lots of people get caught out by how cold it can be descending off Teide (The volcano at the heart of Tenerife). He rode up the first 1,400 m with two young women from London a couple of weeks ago and they were only wearing summer kit. They had intended to go as high as the road would take them (2,360 m!), until he pointed out to them that he was wearing arm-warmers, leg-warmers, a gilet and a cycling cap for a reason ...

PS He was also complaining that it was "only 19 °C" - lucky bastard! :cold:

+1 Colin you will need arm warmers and gilets. Where are you staying South or North if its the south your limited but they will bring the bike to you However its not cheap . IMHO I would take my own set of wheels/tyres spare break pads and own tool kit (saddle bag with essentials also plenty of gels and carbo drink its hard to find shops that sell that stuff. In the north there are specialist cycling firms but they take the biscuit for hire rates IMO. What I found was the hire bikes were not stable enough coming down the steep hills I felt rather edgy. watch the roads they are ok from certain areas but other areas they are poor. You'l not be doing much except climbing and descending there is very little flat areas and where there is its built up but a great Island for climbers.
