My normal commute is 2.5 miles/Train/Train/2.5 miles, repeat on way home.

Friday was the workday from hell! A customer in France, who, we are 3 weeks late delivering to, who only speaks French, and who we suspect hasn't got the £65,000 remaining on the bill. Trying to sort out an invoice(s) with 3 directors putting their oar in, as well as the French agent and the credit director, all of them seeming incapable of using "reply all" to an email and hence 4 different email loops , with at least 2 people 2-4 hrs behind.

One of the reasons I gave up the car was to lose some of the daily stress, and I found it works, by the time I have cycled a bit and then be forced to socialise with people I have forgetten the office by the time I get home.

Friday that was not going to work , there would have been blood on the walls of the train if I had met anyone on Friday.
Soooo up to the station and then turn right, along NCN 4 , past Caerphilly Castle and then a bit of a short slog up the hill. Then the Taff Trail....

Freewheeling down hill for about 3-4miles , along a converted railline, a little short haul through Taffs Well and then a toddle along the Taff into Cardiff...

About 13 miles, a bit further than is really comfortable on a Brompton , especially without any padding , but a nice pootle and a wonderful moment of synchronisity when the Toucan crossing on Castle Street turned to green as I approached. Two cans of M&S lager for the train and then 2.75 miles along another NCN to home ( No road after the beer) .

When it's pissing down with rain * and I arrive in work like a soaked cat , it's days like Friday that let me put up with people in work asking " Why do you do that when you can buy a car...?"

I like cycling home from work and arriving human! :-)

* I don't mind rain, no matter how wet, as long as it;s not windy. Non cyclists in work don't comprehend that, they seem to think that rain is the worst thing that can happen.
