The ultimate band?

Following Dellzeq's thread about Keith Moon, and suggesting Hendrix as lead guitar, it struck me that there must be an ideal band......

So there we have the challenge:

You can have any musician dead or alive to form your ideal band..

anders johannson or cozy powell on drums

Tarja Turunen on vocals

Billy sheehan on bass

my mate wilko on th ekeys

Me on guitars

Another vote for Tarja from me, although Liv from Leaves Eyes gives her a good run for the money.

It has to be......Ian Paice on the drums!!

Peter Steele on bass

Jon Lord on keys

and if B.O.A.B wasn't available, I'd have Mick Box doing the wah-wah on guitar.

Plus Daniel Bresanutti out of Front 242 to do the live programming.

janis joplin vocal
carl palmer drums
john entwhistle bass
alvin lee guitar
rick wakeman keyboards
playing heavy blues with squealing guitar , janis trying to squeal louder , drums and bass both banging perfect harmony through the fast bits and the constant tones of rick in background
incidently it is rumoured that this will be the head lining group playing behind the pearly gates when the others decide to kick it

Blimey, great thread but I can't contribute. Far too many conflicting bands and genres

No, still can't.

Blimey,

great thread though.
Agree entirely. I've been thinking about this far too long already. I think i'd end up with some kind of prog/ metal hybrid. There would be Carl Palmer, Keith Emerson, maybe Phil Lynott, Steve Harris, Carlos Santana, Edgar Froese, Stephen Wilson, Lemmy, Tony Iommi and Animal from the Muppets. It would sound dreadful.

The Ultimate band...

how about;
John Wetton: bass/vocals (formerly in Family, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep and Wishbone Ash)
Steve Howe: guitar (formerly in Yes)
Geoff Downes: keyboards (formerly in Yes and The Buggles)
Carl Palmer: drums (formerly in Emerson, Lake & Palmer)

I was thinking of calling this imaginary supergroup Europe... but that's been done... maybe Asia or something?

Apropos nothing much, musicians could still be getting offers, even when they're 'behind the gates'. (Should imagine the metal would be red hot down there though...) Here.

Got to be Lloyd Green on pedal steel, his work on Johnny Paycheck's 60s LPs is unsurpassed.

Add to that...

Charlie Rich on piano
Jerry Reed on guitar
Marty Stuart on guitars/mandolin
Earl Scruggs on banjo
Bob Wills on fiddle
Lee Rocker on bass
Butch Trucks on drums
Johnny Paycheck and Wanda Jackson on vocals

That's for this week anyway...

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Mozart and Bach on harpischords
Vivaldi and Corelli on the violin
Quantz on the flute
Boccherini on the cello
Marin Marais on the viola da gamba

A recipe for fireworks: the baroque and the classical and the different national styles sparking each other off. The improvisatory skills in that little lot would have been phenomenal.
