I've had a plastic spring clip holding my outside PIR doodah together for 3 years or so. It works so I've never bothered to fix it.

That first one reminds me of an old mini van i used to have 20 years ago. When the handles on the back doors fell off, I found a couple of old brass door knobs lying around and fitted them. They were fine...and rather classy!

You have to wedge a mop between my tumble drier door and the wall to keep it shut after i removed the faulty door catch. Works very well and has the added benefit of a comedy tripping hazard for the unwary.
