Look it's nothing specific. I guess the straw etc was looking in my pannier and finding:
  1. 3 front lights and 2 rear
  2. Pump
  3. 2 spare tubes
  4. 2 repair kits
  5. Multitool
  6. Multitool pouch
  7. 2 spanners
  8. Spare batteries
  9. Shirt
  10. Trousers
  11. Bungee
  12. Waterproof Jacket
  13. Paper towel (?)
  14. Cycle computer
  15. Cycle lock
  16. Mobile phone
  17. Set of keys
  18. Work folder
  19. 3 travel chess sets
  20. Fluff
:tired:

Sounds like you need to have a clear out and a reorganization, I thought I was bad, don't forget to hire a skip before you start.

You're just too negative; find the positive in this situation by using your extra weight to increase your speed by cycling downhill both ways into work. On the days you have a headwind use a Hywind Portable Wind Generator (see https://www.cyclechat.net/) to recharge the car battery on your rear rack thus providing a much needed boost when connected to a vacuum cleaner motor on your frame. Alternatively cut your commute in half by finding a 50% shorter route -or if the weight truly does bother you, signup for the next manned lunar missions where your weight will be a third less than that on Earth!

I'm sure other people can provide handy tips as well. We're here to help and we're listening.

Just get rid of some of the items, i.e.
3. One spare tube instead of two.
4. One repair kit not two.
6. Ditch it.
7. Ditch it.
8. Ditch it, you should only ever need to replace batteries at home.
9, 10: Bring work clothes to work only when you need to, and keep them at work all other times.
11: Is this for when you ride over clifftops, and want to get back up again?
18. Instead of the folder, try the electronic approach, i.e. if you must bring work home with you, then either email it between home & work, or start using USB memory sticks (less bulky).
19: How long is your commute?

By the way, the above was at least partly in jest. ;). I used to carry a lot more in my bike bag, but learned to leave out the non-essential items, plus got a more aerodynamically-shaped bag.
