Ukraine (again)

Looks like things may be kicking off in Ukraine again. From what I can work out, the Crimea gets it's water and electricity from Ukraine but they haven't been paying for it since Russia seized the territory. So Ukraine cut off supplies. Russia is using this as a pretext for war - blaming Ukraine as always - https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...rt-civil-war-in-eastern-ukraine-idUSKBN2BN1FQ

'The Kremlin said on Wednesday it was worried by the situation in eastern Ukraine, fearing the Ukrainian side could do something that would restart a civil war there.

'President Vladimir Putin late on Tuesday accused Ukraine of provoking armed confrontation with pro-Russian separatists and failing to honour earlier agreements over its wartorn east, during a telephone call with France and Germany’s leaders.'
France and Germany aren't likely to protest as they're currently negotiating with Russia for Covid vaccines.

Russian troops are massing on the border

Looks like Putin wants to kill a lot of people and steal a lot of land - again.

Is Germany still pro Nordstream which divert gas away from Ukraine? It does look as though Germany is struggling with how to deal with Russia, two very different ideas fighting for supremacy.

Yes, i did a little bit about it here https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/germany-russias-47th-oblast.273618/

As worrying as it is for us in the West. A quick land grab for the North Crimean Canal would be in Putin's interest. Not least as not many take more nationalistic pride in war time than Russians. Especially given the recent events with Putin's critics and political enemies and his power grab to keep him in office for life... A nice little diversion and raise his popularity.

Of course, the Russian "voluteers" are already fighting in East Ukraine. Putin could, probably without western interference take the ENTIRE of Ukraine. That is a possibility, but more likely, the pro Russian areas from Luhansk to Odessa without much resistance... For me it is a question of when not if...

Putin is already elected for life so far i recall, however he never made it a secret he want to re-instate former soviet union territories.(which includes Ukraine) If he invades/occupies all or Ukraine where in for an ''interesting'' situation considering the west/us/EU's ties with Ukraine

It's just a copy and paste job by the Kremlin. It's no coincidence that the 4000 troops they sent to the border are airborne units... They can take Donetsk and Luhansk in a couple of days. They'll drop the troops in, capture the airports and vital infrastructure points and steam roll in with armour and supply lines... They'll meet little resistance, Ukrainian forces will likely retreat immediately, offering only pocket resistance. NATO will do nothing. The EU will condemn it, but Russia essentially already has them with their trousers around their ankles. For Russia its a win win scenario...

Of course but he had and now it seems Kiev's trap is going to bite them back badly
Can't see Nato or US moving more than finger - they will put some sanctions, maybe sell/lease some equipment to Ukrainian military and that's it.

Yeah Ukraine is simply not important enough for an war that would be needed to stop Russia, European armies are crippled from years of cuts and cuts and cuts, and the us firstly it will not be smart for Biden to go this route secondly ''winning'' there would come at a huge price
