You'd have thought, you'd really have thought, he'd have done the dirty Deed Poll bit and got rid of all the nonsense. But people have an innate reluctance on this topic...

My first name - common enough - actually means something a bit smutty in French, if you add the odd accent and mis-pronounce it. I don't have a problem with giving my name as "Peter" but my wife thinks I ought to call myself "Pierre" when in France - but I don't like that name.
