Morning all,
After 1200 miles, it's time to replace the pads on my hybrid - they're V-brakes and have shoes/pads similar to:
http://www.wiggle.co...rd-brake-shoes/

However, I'd prefer not to have to replace the whole thing everytime and would like something along the lines of the separate shoe and replaceable pads like on the dual pivots attached to my Charge Plug - any ideas?

Cheers all
Colin

EDIT: In searching for examples, it seems I've answered my own question and found:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/bbb-bbs-14t-tristop-v-brake-shoe-and-pads/
Er... going to continue and searching on cheaper/alternative models. Does anyone have a preferred brand that they'd recommend?

There expensive, I picked up a couple of Aztec pairs for half that price from a lbs and they are good pads IMO can't fault them, last time they wore out however I fancied a change I changed the pad for koolstops and they fit in the aztec housing fine :becool:

That was going to be my next question - mixing different brands of shoes and pads; guess it'll be hit or miss unless I get anecdotal evidence here

I'll check out the Aztecs - cheers!

Not tried them myself but OBE pads for Dual-caliper have been getting good press, I see they do both one piece and separate insert styles for V-brake too.
Linky
I think they may also sold by "bikefridge" (Ebay vendor)

Clarks are cheaper and as good as the more expensive stuff.

See, I bought Clarks for the Plug (new shoes and pads) and prepped them with sandpaper and gave them a couple of weeks grace to 'bed in'. Never felt that confident in their braking ability

I was out in all weathers - they are quite hard, which i believe makes them better in the dry?

I only had them on a bike I rode in the dry (off road mtb) and they were good.

I think softer compounds are better in the wet and for getting most life out of the braking surface - I have Koolstop Salmon on my weekend road bike.
