Fantastic to see ITV4 seem to have committed to cycling.

I had thought they might do a bit 'here and there' but looks like they are making an effort. Tour of Britain coverage was excellent tonight - they even managed to make it look exciting!

So well done ITV4!!

Yes, credit where due but I suppose it would be churlish to whinge about the nerdy commentary style of Anthony McCrossan so I won't:wacko:

Better the nerdy McCrossan commentary than the pompous, I know who going to win, because I actually do know who's going to win, retrospective commentary of Hugh Porter.

As my digital picture is complete pants I rely heavily on the ITV Player for watching the ToB. Unfortunatley this is also pants. It's Monday evening and I was hoping to watch yesterdays stage. Not to be. The only one I could find was stage 1 from Saturday, which I watched yesterday.

Is anyone else having trouble with the ITV Player or is it me? I never seem to have any trouble with the BBC one.

The one I saw yesterday, by the way, was great. Really enjoyed it.

I like ITV4 more and more. This year's coverage of the Isle of Man TT races and the Tour de France was quite exceptional.

How long are the advert breaks though?

Not too bad .... but, what is more worrying, is the products being advertised during these ad breaks. It says a lot about any programme's 'demographic' when you observe the products being advertised

I don't suppose advertisers on ITV4 are aiming at the cycling fans, they will be buying up big blocks of cheap coverage on a crap channel full of crap shows. It's mere coincidence that the cycling is on IT4 interrupting the soft porn and chav fodder

As for commentary, I don't know who it is that Eurosport are using, but they are both terrible.
Today's gem was "Here they come for the big left hander"

as they approached a right hand bend....

Advertising demographics are weird. I often watch a rock channel called Scuzz (yeah, I know...:o) which majors on Slipknot, Metallica, Foo Fighters and assorted emo bands. The ads are usually for cosmetics, insurance, baby products and the usual range of consumer crap that we can't possibly live without. Not one advert which would actually have the channels target audience in mind. Same goes for the other music channels that I watch.

best commentator ever has got to be Rob Warner.....legend.
