Why John O'Groats & Lands End??

I've long been in the process of planning my JOGLE (I leave on Sunday) and when looking at the map, it's occurred to me that neither John O'Groats or Lands End are the northerly or Southerly extremes of the country.

Surely it should be Dunnet Head to Lizard point? It just lead me to thinking why were JOG and LE the points that people travel between.

As such, my route encompasses all 4 places, so I make sure that I have truly done the end to end.

So, for all those of you that claim to have done the end to end and not visited dunnet head, or lizard point, you better get your map out and start planning all over again, hehe.

IIRC, LE and JOG are the two points furthest apart from each other.

Lowestoft and Ardnamurchan Point.

As much as Ardnamurchan is a truly stunning place i really wouldnt cycle all the way to the end and back on a tour just to say you have done it lol
