does the pond need any safety precautions to prevent any vulnerable/less capable residents falling in and coming to harm?

Whirley gig moved and a small chain safety barrier up.

I can sleep soundly tonight now......

10 fish now in the pond ,shibumpkin and red gold fish,they seem happy.
New little picket fence to stop toddlers .

So far you only have safety barrier and a picket fence, so it’s still possible to see parts of the pond.

When are you going to install the guard post, watchtowers and laser-guided machine guns?

Those b'stard herons will still try to get through...

Yep that's a certainty.
My pond is permanently covered with a net. I learned the hard way. Even fish which were too big for the heron to eat were speared and left beside the pond.

Herons are the one to stop.
I have put a few hide away areas in the bottom to help but a wire or floating gizmo may be needed.

At work we have a plastic heroin standing guard over our fish pond. Apparently it scares the real herons away.

Did you stock the pond or did they get there naturally somehow?
Always heard of fish eggs stuck to birds feet doing this but seems unlikely
