Yesterday's ride was murder!

Yesterday I did my normal Sunday ride of just over 90 km (in one direction and get the train back) and it's usually child's play but yesterday I had a fairly stiff breeze in my face all the way. The upshot of this is that my legs are feeling it today, which is never normally the case. I reckon the breeze was worth two gears of change down i.e. the default gear on my Rohloff is usually 11 and yesterday it was 9.

Anyway, all this got me wondering if there is some sort of formula whereby the strength of a wind can be equated to extra weight carried or distance travelled or something. Anybody got any ideas?
