I'm thinking about doing this over the summer and just wondered if anyone else had completed it? If so, is it well signposted and is there a better direction to do it in? What were your favourite parts?
Recommendations for cycle-friendly accommodation also welcomed as I can't see me managing it in a day!

Cheers, Andy

Middle of summer, long days, no need for accommodation :okay: Not done that distance in a day myself, but might have a crack later in the year  & tbh I didn't know that route existed. Cheers

Here's the route.

http://www.cycleyorkshirewolds.com/route

Around 150 miles in total. Do-able in a day, though I've never gone that far in one go myself. Also, having just done the York-Sheffield TdF stage 2 route from last year, and with a 120-mile Hull to Scarborough through-the-night charity ride coming up next month, I'd prefer to make this less of a challenge ride and more of a leisurely(ish) scenic tour.
I've just finished walking the Wolds Way so am keen to see how this compares. I suspect it'll be less well signposted for one thing, but we'll see.
Be good to hear from anyone who's done all or part of it.

Cheers.

I've looked at the route & am considering having a crack at it in one day, but going to see how I get on with the Big G 100 miler first :okay:

I've just signed up for the 100 miler too, just need to find some of that fitness ...

Did it as a charidee event over two days on a touring bike with panniers. Flat and enjoyable, took about 11 hours in total so on something a bit faster a day would be easily achievable.

Join us at the Hornsea Peloton for Saturday & Sunday rides if you want some company, there a good bunch of lads & lasses :okay: Really got my motivation back this year & feel fitter & faster than ever  (just don't quote me on that after the Big G)

Plotted the route on Strava from Hornsea & back, which doesn't add any hills & it comes out at over 7000ft elevation, in my book that certainly aint flat

Strava had it at 1986m over 248km, think there where only two sharp inclines, one of which was a detour to avoid a farm track and took us up the hill past the golf course as you head to walkington. We did it anti- clockwise  7000m would be hilly 7000ft = flat

Do you ride Saturday or Sundays (or depend on shifts?) - might try this Sunday

It depends on my shifts, I do both if I can Saturday's tend to be 50-60 miles at ave 17mph ish, Sunday's tend to be more relaxed, 20 miles at pace of slowest rider, been as low as 11mph
On nights Friday, so won't make 8am start on Saturday, but hoping for an earlier finish on Saturday, so I should make 9am Sunday

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to split it over a weekend just to allow me to take in the pubs scenery better. I wouldn't call 7,000ft flat, but it's not exactly challenge ride stuff either is it? Looking forward to it now. Think I'll be going clockwise.

Cottingham Road Club is also a really great, friendly bunch if you're East Yorks based. They do a weekly Weds eve 27 miler over the Humber Bridge and around Barton, a fast ride every Tues eve and a ride of 35-70 miles every weekend, alternating between Saturday and Sunday each week - http://www.cottinghamroadclub.co.uk/

http://www.yorkshirewoldscyclechallenge.org.uk/challenge.html The chariddeee is running it again this year, they only request £40 + £60 in sponsorship and you get full support, camping (your kit is transported) weekend parking at the start, evening meal and breakfast. There is also music and a bar on the saturday night. It was a good well organised event, my only gripe was they where a little overzealous trying to force me onto the route. By that I mean there is a section about 10m long where to avoid the road junction (turning left lol) the route signposts onto a narrow pavement to go round a blind 90o bend that had scaffolding on it, the @marshal' jumped into the middle of the road and physically tried to stop me using the road, the cars behind must have thought I was being kidnapped lol. Made no comments about the fact I declined to wear a helmet though so not all bad

Looks great. Those dates are no good for me, but I hope they get plenty of sign-ups.

Yep, cheers @craigwend - have started riding with them every Weds eve and going on my first longer weekend ride with them later this month. Thanks for the pointer.
