Got back and my front brake is rubbing on the rim yet again. No matter how much I fiddle with the damn thing I just can't sort it. Will have another go shortly, so if anyone in north Norfolk overhears a lot of swearing - apologies in advance!
If you cant centre it by holding it 'on' whilst tightening the nut, after tightening up, hit the return spring on the offending side, it usually works.

Thanks- will try that . I feel like hitting it with a large hammer though!

20.20 Miles utility ride today on the Hybrid. It was hot and windy, I hate the the wind and nearly came home, but persevered to http://www.shuttvr.com/ headquarters as they did me a blinding deal on a couple of jerseys by way of sponsorship for this http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/CarlPettman, had a chat with them for a while, they are getting ready for an exhibition at http://www.eroicabritannia.co.uk/page/the-festival which looks like a lot of fun, I might go next year.

Then I rode to Bicester to the bank and shops to buy flapjack ingredients.

The warmest day of the year so far in Shropshire and so after spending most of it in the office, I needed a trip out this evening!

One of my regular evening rides, setting out to Uffington, Upton Magna, where I overtook another cyclist ^_^ (Doesn't happen very often!) Rodington Heath, Roden and Poynton, where I was passed at a ridiculously close margin on the narrow lane by a knob in a Citroen Picasso. He didn't even slow down and I think missed me by about 2 inches. If he had waited I would have pulled in ahead, but there is always 1 isn't there!

It was then onto Bings Heath, and up Ebury Hill, where a couple walking gave me encouragement as I neared the top, "keep going it gets better in a minute" they said .

It was indeed better as I flew downhill with the strengthening northerly breeze behind me and indeed down the bank by haughmond hill I hit 32mph^_^.

I then turned into the wind for the remainder of the trip home !

Just been out for a short spin. Found the poppy fields I spotted from a distance yesterday. First off, a pic of North Creake here in west Norfolk. Some beautiful churches hereabouts...

A few farm tracks led me to this spot...

Finally one with the ruins of North Creake Abbey just about in the background..

Certainly is poppy season here in Norfolk now. Sadly, back to Newmarket for me though tomorrow.

An Evening ride today setting off at around 19:00 with a leisurely ride out along the cycleway to Dalston on the MTB. I met a group of around 20 6-10 year olds out on their bikes. What a great time they were having! Most greeted me in some way or another and with the prize going to a wee lass who beamed a huge smile whilst saying a hearty "cheerio" to me.

After Dalston I headed out to the Crown Inn where I met the local club on their weekly TT ride, which I stayed with for a few miles before heading back to Carlisle via Wreay and Brisco.

Plenty of wildlife and very few people

Just in from a nice bimble. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/523502733
I decided to explore to the right at the Kenninghall crossroads. Straight on takes me on to the A11, I found this out the other day. Left takes me home and I wasn't ready to go home so I went right. It takes me, eventually, to the slip road of the A47 onto the A11 roundabout. I got off and followed the horse path around on foot, carrying my bike over the prickles. Seems that the horses are not using this route much nowadays.
From there I followed my home to hospital route backwards. It's a nice ride in the opposite direction. I'll do the ride again but see if there is a cyclepath around rather than the horse path.
17.35 miles in 1:13:55 so a 14.1mph moving average. It's a fast day today but I'm full of energy. Off for a bath now as I hum a bit. All kit, including helmet lining, padded thingies are in the washing machine as they are minging. Again.

Hot, hot, hot today!

Went for a repeat of the Castle Carrock MTB ride. Realised when I was parking up that I had not put any sun cream on  Thought I'd be OK as it should only take a couple of hours (I was wrong, I am sunburned, I won't forget again).

No need to hang about this time as the video was running and even met the local walking club coming the other way, loads of people out enjoying the weather. I also learned that a horse can climb the side of a hill faster than a human can push a bike up

I'm doing a route guide video, but here's the most "interesting" section of the bridleway.

You don't get that kind of experience at trail centres

Hot, hot, hot today!

MikeW. You made the classic mistake on that route. When you came to the new gate and crossed the stream (where you put the bike down)you should have turned left and followed the fence, this takes you in to a Land Rover track that eventually goes down hill towards the bridge on what was probably the original track a bit of heather bashing but easier than the sheep trod that you followed.

Lovely early-morning ride this morning to Clevedon and back; woke with the sun and headed out at 5:15, back by 6:30. Sorry, no pictures, but I did see rabbits, cats, and birds on the road who scuttled off only reluctantly. The good news was seeing almost no vehicles at all; the bad news was the ones I did see thought the roads were theirs and screamed past accordingly.

Who else likes early, early morning rides? I think there's nothing like the relative peace and quiet, plus the rest of the day knowing you got your ride in. The downside of course is a bad case of the sleepies around 2PM... :tired:

84 mile random ride today, just headed out and kept on going with no route in mind, ended up going up Beacon HIll, I don't know why because I hate climbing.

Highlight of the ride was when a car went by me and I was pretty sure the passenger shouted something at me. As luck would have it there was a set of traffic lights just ahead so I caught them up. A couple of old dears in the car; "Excuse me luv, but did you shout something at me as you went by?" Passenger replied, "yes, you've got a hole in your shorts and I could see your bum!" Big grin on my face "Well at least you've had a thrill today," I said. Bit of a chuckle from both the old dears and on our way

Got home, no hole, but the material is starting to thin a bit, might be time to relegate these shorts to winter time and wear them under the bikesters.
