Today was such a good day that I went out again to meet hubster from hospital. Usual route so 8.33 miles in 35:13. The bike handled and felt a whole lot better after pumping up the tyres (a lot)

Home now and feeling a bit pumped.

Just dipped our feet although i would've loved diving into the cool waters….the thought of the uphill climb waiting for us on the way back (about 20km worth) in wet gear (we usually dip in whatever we're wearing and just let it dry as we ride lol) was pretty daunting.

And of course we stopped for lunch before we headed home.:hyper:

First time out in a while, but managed to get out today for a very pleasant 14 miles on the new bike!
I took the usual route to the Helix via the cycle paths and took a couple of pics of the bike there.

Isn't she gorgeous!

Such a glorious day at Helix Park!

As it was so nice I decided to head to the woods and try the bike out on a little light trail work  (heeding my doctors advice not to fall off).
The tyres coped really well - I had thought about changing them but was waiting until I had given them a proper run.
They roll lovely (could be the fact it's a 29er as well) and coped with gravel, muddy puddles and didn't bottom out on some mud I hit, unlike my Conti's tend to do!
The handling was responsive and easier to control than I thought it would be. I'm still a little wobbly at times but it'll take time for me to get a feel for the bike. I did find it a little bumpy after being used to the full suspension, but lifting my fat butt off the saddle did the trick for the rougher ground.
I also adjusted the seat height again (another inch up) and it seems to be about right now.
By the end of the run I had the gears/brakes in hand...they are positioned differently to the Saracen and I kept reaching for the brakes when I wanted to change gears! Being gentle isn't my forte but I found that I needed to be, or risk an off...boy those hydraulic brakes are good!

On the way back I got up the hill at the cemetery in one go, no faster than usual, but at least I'm not getting off and walking!
I think I will be changing the saddle but I'm going to give it another few rides before I decide.

I gave her a nice wash down and she is back in the hall (no husband dear, I will NOT put her in the shed ).

I also bought cycle insurance today, to cover theft, accidental or malicious damage. I just need one of their approved locks now.
All in all, I am delighted with the Specialized and can't wait for the next ride - and that is what it's all about!

Our first proper ride on the new tandem. From Stone to Eccleshall with obligatory cake stop (at Fletchers garden centre). 12 miles. I really enjoyed that & my stoker is adamant that she did too.
Not only am I re-learning old lessons relating to tandem riding but I'm also learning new lessons & new habits wrt riding & socialising with a blind person.
My tandem-boss says we have to travel more miles next Friday.
It's all good.

Well it was :rain::rain:when I got up this morning, so I went shopping, in the car. By 10 o'clock I spotted some :sun::sun:outside so after the mandatory stretching went out for a quick spin. Working on new ways to get to my regular circuit, I found some more little hills leading out of Virginia Water up to Englefield Green. I hate hills, so try to include lots on my rides:rolleyes: The plan was a circuit round Deer Park as always, and for regular viewers, behind me in this pic is the Golden Jubilee Statue

Luckily those clouds kept the rain to themselves, so it turned into a nice pedal. Meandered off down Dukes Lane to see where it went, and found myself at Ascot Gate, looking at unfamiliar roads which I didn't fancy riding, so retraced my steps back to the Royal School and then home. 23 miles saw my weekly mileage reach 50+ for the 2nd week which is great progress for me. Confidence slowly returning so by Summer I will be ready for our planned Hadrians Wall ride:smile:

Had a morning of running around so once I got all my jobs done it was time for a small ride on the trail, not a bad day up here, dry with a slight hint of occasional brightness and a less fierce wind than of late.
Just 11 miles all in, with the obligatory coffee stop on the canal :cuppa:

Trail's drying up a bit now, and the Metrolink is coming along nicely

Afternoon ride for me today. Hubby rang up at lunchtime sounding tired, so I agreed to ride out to his work and cycle home with him. It's one of those daft situations where it would take just as long to drive to him and pick up and his bike up as it would to ride out and even longer to get home again by car than it would to cycle it, with it being a Friday afternoon/night around the M56/M6/A49 areas... so I set out at 3pm in the sunshine cursing that I was a wimp and had decided to wear my winter kit again, 15 mins later, I was still cursing and 30 mins into the ride I was exceptionally grateful I had been a wimp and gone in my winter kit rather than my spring kit. Spring is in the air, but that wind is still very chilly and my bad leg still needs to be kept warm. I pushed hard straight up the A49 to his work place making it in 51 mins (which for me is good) and then we opted to 'freelance' home again not really knowing the back way but having a vague idea on what was needed....
Loads of wildlife spotted (including a dead polecat) and we cycled within 3m of a buzzard at head height in a tree along the back lanes... Not sure what the car driver thought I was pointing at, but my OH finally spotted it in the tree  (think he may have been watching other things cycling behind me!) Also saw some blackthorn in flower which surprised the living daylights out of me. (Blackthorn flowers before it leafs, hawthorn flowers after in comes into leaf). So we had a nice amble along the back lanes before hitting the A49 to return home. Faster time than normal but I only need to eat tea and collapse on the sofa at the other end, so 25 miles in 1hr 50 mins which for me is very good going, especially at the end of a long week. And I will leave you with my first lesser celandine in flower at my door!

50 miles and 3000 feet of climbing for me this afternoon - very rounded figures but purely accidental. Headed out to Stonehouse then to Sandford and Drumclog followed by a steady climb up the Ardochrig - great view right over the whole of Glasgow from there. After that it was home with a tailwind most of the way.
Great to have a Friday off.
