Dear Bob,

As you have competed in 31 WTRL TTTs representing 31 unique weeks, we are writing to let you know of some HUGE new developments.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that we are approaching our 174th week of the WTRL Team Time Trial. With well over 30,000 unique racers and an average of over 3,000 per week, the competition has seen various additions and improvements over the years but the following represent some of the biggest new features to date:
NO MORE STOPWATCHES.
  • Yep! You read that right.....
  • Its been a 7 month collaborative project with Zwift and from now on, you'll pick your team's start time at registration.
  • Zwift itself will release your whole team at that time on to the TTT course.
  • This means you can happily keep warm without worrying about the pairing screen or accidentally crossing the start line.
  • You will no longer have to join the pen by the time the Zone starts. Zwift will pop up a Join Now button on your screen from 30 minutes and less to your chosen start time.
  • You will still see all other teams on the starting conveyor and throughout the course too.
  • Each team lines up in row ACROSS the paddock with subsequent teams in the rows behind.
  • You will see in your registration and team management, we give you a row number which is your starting order in that Zone and paddock.
  • Each team can place up to 8 riders on to the start grid.
  • The order of racer sign up determines the order ACROSS the row of the racers.
  • We are adding provision for DS's to be in the paddock too but locked to the back of the pen but they can of course simply fan view (we recommend avoiding DS's on the conveyors to avoid a pile up at the front)
  • We will also be using our new mode for Zwift Racing League Team Time Trials too - the new season gets underway on September 13th.

TT BIKES ARE IN PLAY!
  • From #174 your team will have a new strategic dilemma to figure out.
  • TT bikes are now ALLOWED in WTRL TTTs and what's more.... they will also benefit from both providing draft to riders behind AND receiving from riders in front. A first for any TT bike dynamics in Zwift.
  • TT bikes are devastatingly fast on the flat compared to road bikes but road bikes have the advantage on the hilly terrain.
  • Some courses may even present advantages to bike swaps (think Out and Back Again) or teams split across different bike types depending on rider specialty and the course.
  • Keep the Gravel and Mountain bikes handy for special events!

MORE ZONES & TIMES
  • The weekly WTRL Team Time Trial will now feature 22 ZONES PLUS the 2 Platinum League races.
  • Each paddock can handle 30 teams and each Zone has 5 paddocks
  • This means the WTRL TTT will have capacity for 3,300 teams in its new format plus the Platinum Leagues.
  • Platinum League teams don't get to choose their start time as these are governed by your finishing position the previous week to aid with Zwift Community Live broadcasts.
  • There are plenty of slots to choose from and each slot spans 30 minutes so if you'd prefer a bit more time to get home from work than rushing in for 6:30pm, you can choose to start at 6:59pm if preferred.
  • You'll be able to register in each zone right up until 30 minutes before it starts.
  • You will also be able to edit your registration up to 30 minutes before your Start Time as long as there are no team members in the pen.
  • Click the image below for a readable version of all the Zone start times.

TEAM MANAGEMENT IMRPOVEMENTS
We've also added more functionality to team management....
  • If you move your team to a different zone or CoffeeClass, ALL signed up riders move automatically with it.
  • If you delete your registration, ALL riders are also removed from the events and the team.
  • Each rider can be removed by the Team owner or by the individual rider themselves.
  • If a rider is signed up to 2 teams and one of those teams moves to the same Zone as the other team, the rider remains with the moving team and is removed from the other team.
BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE UPDATED WTRL TEAM TIME TRIAL INFORMATION AND RULES.

We are sure you will agree, these are some amazing new improvements and exclusive to WTRL Team Time Trials!
We look forward to seeing you on a Thursday in the very near future!
