Not my cup of tea, but a friend has tickets for the Wigan v Man U end of season match but isn't aware of the logistics of getting from Manchester to Wigan and back. The idea is to travel up, get a hotel in Manchester, travel to Wigan on day of match, travel back to Man. in the evening and go out on the lash. How far is Wigan and how best to travel quickly (without bikes)? Is a taxi feasible, if so how much? Any constructive advice gratefully received.

Sister lives in Wigan, I live in Manchester... I'd say a taxi would be quite expensive, it's about a 25 mile trip IIRC.

No idea about trains/busses though as we always drive when visiting her.

Why not just stay in Wigan though? (is that a daft question?)

They're all Man U fans going Sharky and want to go to Manchester for the party afterwards, I think. Thanks for the advice though. Is there a train link anyone?

While you're thinking about it, have a gander at some Wigan Casino clips...;)

He's a Man U fan and doesn't know how to get to Wigan - which is part of Greater Manchester?

Doesn't live up to the stereotype of the typical Man U fan then?
