Anyone built a staw bale structure?

Thinking of doing a shed. Anyone had any experience?

I've helped build one before. Great fun. There's plenty of good books and guides around. A shed shouldn't be too hard.

There's a couple of worthwhile sites: http://www.strawbale-building.co.uk/ and http://www.strawbalefutures.org.uk/, and I think CAT do a brief course. The best thing to do is volunteer to help someone else first, and then invite volunteers for yours...

There is a surprising amount of joinery in a straw bale house. A book would be really helpful as it will guilde you in what you need before you get all the bales in. There are a few simple tools required and you will need to learn how to split bales and bend bales.
The build is great fun and, done with friends and some wine, can lead to a lot of giggling and rolling in the hay straw.
