The actual battle was 1st July

Of course that was the Julian Calender, in 1752 the Gregorian Calender was introduced and added 11 days to prior dates ..... hence the 12th July celebration.

Of course that raises a whole new set of questions as to which dates have been corrected and which not... as different countries adopted the Gregorian system at different times.

I suspect that there was also a lot of chanting

....also, shouldn't the title of this thread have 'Joni' and 'Happy' in it? @summerdays using your moderator's power, please can you change it?
And just where would you put them?

Happy Battle of Joni Boyne?
Battle of Happy Joni?
Joni Battles with Happy Boyne ?

Mrs C has some sourdough loaves proving at the minute, as we are on the subject of bread. Nothing to do with Mr Smug Hollywood or the Gregorian/Julian calendar or the Microsoft/Google Calendar or the fact Rich needs to go to Specsavers or the fact that Summerdays wasn't really paying attention when she bought the book, I just thought I'd mention it to keep the thread trending.
