The skin underneath does. How is it different from the pubic area, which does tend to get a bit sweaty?

The pubic area has far more of both the apocrine and eccrine sweat glands,sweat glands than the chin.

That first effort is poorly maintained.

Though hipster in style, the second is in far better nick and I reckon would be marvellous in full flow.

i use a special shampoo + conditioner and use beard oil in mine every other day. beard oil isn't necessary but to keep it in "good condition" as these hipsters call it, its nice.

I fully bearded at the moment, and I'm not known for my hipness.

They seem to be in ATM ,swmbo says I will not get a kiss if I grow a beard.

reminds me. Need to shave my beard off. Had it since September.
Only grew it to keep face warm in winter.

Shame on you if you do.

One doesn't cover one's beard.

Ice in the beard is a sign of a very very cold day, but it's a bit of a nuisance when you finally get in the warm melting in cold trickles down your neck and throat.
