But this:

I'd flipped the Fixie onto its saddle and handlebars.
Yeah, I was cleaning the chain ready to re-lube it.
(you know what's coming, don't you?)

I'd nearly finished when I had the really bright idea of spinning the cranks very fast
and holding the rag on the inside of the chain.
For some stoopid reason each time the crank arm went past I had the even brighter idea
of dabbing at the chain right next to the ring before the crank arm quickly returned. (stoopid tw*t!)
One extremely brief moments lapse of concentration and I was quickly brought back to reality.
The pain was unreal, I wanted to quickly pull my finger back out but couldn't until I'd
rewound the crank backwards.

When I'd managed that, I ran to the kitchen sink to put the cold tap on full blast.
The crazy thing is that the same pain was also running through my middle finger.
I put this down to me having 'neuropathy' and the nerve signals are a bit ****witted.
Also being a Type 1 Diabetic I've got an increased risk of infection.

I'm now sporting an index finger tip that is bulbous enough to get its own porn contract.
And a punctured blackened nail.
I'm coping much better with it than I first thought I would. (thank funk!!!)

First time I've ever chained my finger, I'll try to make it the last.

I've had much worse scrapes. I'll be OK.

Yep done that. With a motorbike chain Same pain though. Same thought process too, "You stupid tw*t", followed by an indian rain dance round the garden miming silent screams.

And I wasn't even drunk or nuffin'. It's the beginning of the end.
