Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about which bike to jump to next! i currently have a Viking sprint (as far as i can tell rather useless when facing a hill climb) and am looking to upgrade to a better bike as soon as possible. The three bikes i'm currently looking at are

Cube Peloton Pro, Specialized Allez Sport and Giant Defy 3 Composite.

I live in eastbourne so cycle up beachy head and the downs regularly and am looking for a bike that would be able to cope with these kind of hill climbs alongside being good for my 15mile each way commute to and from my part time place of work a couple of times a week. I am student so money is rather on the tight side hence looking secondhand at the minute (any reason to particularly avoid this?)

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated and apologies if this is one of a million identical posts today! i did try and find any similar ones first.

I love my Viking, 105 equipped 10sp triple, still weighs as much as a light tank mind.

Just a few I'm considering:
Giant defy composite 2 £999 can't remember location
Cannondale caad8 105 in baby blue. £899 at Evans
Felt Z85 105 £664 from wiggle
Feltf75 105 £639 from Merlin
Wilier Iozard £849 from Rutland
Giant defy 1 £699 from Rutland
Forme Longcliffe 1.0 from Rutland

I'm going out to try a few this morning with cc ready to be melted

About 4 months ago I was deciding between the peloton pro and the defy composite 3. I kept reading that you should buy the bike with the best frame and upgrade any components as abs when you can.

I brought the defy composite 3 with tiagra throughout. It's a great bike, very fast and nimble. The only things I plan to change are the wheels for zondas and the shifters for 105 but that's only from a cosmetic point of view as the cables out of the top of the shifters on tiagra annoy me.

Thanks for the replies guys! i shall go take a look at those you suggested Kevoffthetee! my viking was my first bike and only cost me £180 brand new so can't complain but with a basic 14 speed set and at 14kg going up the downs is like trying to kick through concrete haha. I'm having a look at a couple of bikes tomorrow so i'll let you all know what I'm thinking of going for in the end

What year is that one? A couple of years ago, Sora had the thumb button which you may or may not like. 105 groupset can be bought for £300 odd

Its the 2013 model with the STI shifter which is a double click i do believe? there is no thumb button but the lever behind the brake so i presume its not the thumb button model although i'm not too fussed about it if it is. hmm okay well i think i might try and get this bike then for around 400 and see how i get on with the triple sora setup on the hills, with a smallest teeth ring of 30 i think i should be alright (hopefully! haha)
