Just minding my own business, sitting in the waiting room while my jaw was going numb when in walked a woman with her young child and aging mother. The kid was scratching his quite cropped hair a lot and granny was telling him to stop it.... suddenly she leaned over, rummaged about in his hair, said to him "there that's what they look like", as she clicked the nail of her forefinger and thumb together  and started to read the paper...... FFS:ohmy:....

You woz robbed. £44.75 yesterday. Mind you my jaw still aches and the anesthetic didn't quite work and I had to tell him after the second injection just to get on with it. xx(

98? there are only three charges now i think, for fillings and cleaning thirty something i think, cant remember, also replacing loose or dropped out crowns are included if memory serves, tooth extraction comes under the next one with all others included, probably somewhere what you paid, then it goes to nearly two hundred i think for crowns and bridges and root canal work, sounds like they charged you more than they should?

Sounds to me like an entirely practical and laudable approach to the situation - "You've got nits. Get over it."

(Plus, they're a good source of protein!:o)

If you were a parent with young kids, you'd not get worked up over it. Fekking annoying, but it is part of the joy of parenthood. Nits like clean hair as well, and it doesn't matter how many time you tell the kids to keep their heads away from others, they never take any notice

All well and good but when you have one-two families in a class of thirty who don't treat their kids lice and everyone gets them repeatedly it's a pain in the arse. My wife got so sick of my two being reinfected (reinfested?) that when one offending kid was invited round to play she put them in the bath together and did it herself. With another kid she took him back to the school gates and told the mother to take him home (he was crawling) and bring him back when he was clear. And she did. Mind you she's not talking to us now...........

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I've a few dental horror stories from over the years, but my most recent one was when I escorted my ex for treatment a few months back**. She was having a tooth out and wanted some moral support. I hate going to the dentist and haven't been for years, but I said I'd go with her. So off we went...

We sat in reception for a while and eventually she got called in by the petite female dentist who was going to extract her tooth (the description of the dentist is relevant!).

I waited patiently. And waited, and waited... What on earth was taking so long? After nearly 30 minutes my ex appeared, looking extremely green and wobbly. She is tall, and the dentist was struggling to hold her up as they staggered back to reception. Ex paid her bill and I took her by the arm and led her out into the fresh air where her legs buckled and I had to help her over to a nearby bench seat. She couldn't speak for some time, but finally I was able to find out what had happened...

It turns out that the dentist wasn't physically strong enough to pull the tooth out! She'd battled with it for over 15 minutes and couldn't budge the thing. She was breaking bits off it and traumatising my ex, but the damn thing wasn't shifting. Eventually she said that she was going to have to give up, but ex pleaded with her to try again. She'd had toothache before going in, so what would she be like after having a lengthy partial extraction and tooth-splintering session ;)?

The dentist rested a while, and then ensued another 10 minutes of brutal tugging; finally the tooth came out. Or rather, most of it did (fragments of either tooth (or jawbone?) kept emerging from the wound over the course of the following week).

On the way home, I was shown the tooth and I almost fainted when I saw it! It was huge, like something from a big dog rather than a woman... Grisly, 'orrible thing it was.

I broke a tooth a few weeks back, but I haven't been able to face going to have it seen to after that little show ;).

** Bit bloody ironic, considering she finished with me years ago after a blazing row we had when I was grumpy with a raging toothache!

Nits.

Never had them ;)

Does Nitty Nora the Bug Explorer still go round schools?

from what i understand from a mate who is a teaching assistant... Nora is not employed anymore, and it is against the law for teachers to look in a child's hair.

i think a campaign needs to be started.
