Hopefully okay to post this here..(if not move, please)

Heading down through the Big Wood the other day on the path which splits the Erskine and Mar Hall golf course. I got warned from a dog walker that the track has a deep wide channel gouged out on a downhill stretch. If you hit this, you'll be off. I've reported to local council so as usual wait and see.......the problem is at the Erskine golf course track gate..

Of course, if you're not flinging yourself blindly down hills then SAR won't have to come and scrape you into a paper bag. Speed appropriate to the distance you can safely see ahead...

So there's a bad obstacle and if you don't see it [don't look where you're going] you might fall off ? Why not ask for the whole track to be nicely tarmacked and levelled too ?
The area is not a mb track. It's on a NCR (forgot the number) runs through woods and it's twisty. One of my group has fallen off there before, at a very slow speed, of course, given the terrain.
Nevertheless, it says NCN route, so it should be passable on a hybrid by most.
Roadies don't count, they should take the road anyway  ;)

Thanks @Pat "5mph" ..:okay:
I should have clarified the track was a shared use track.
Local cyclists, be them MB's or Roadies would know the path in question..
I've learnt one thing..
put f'all on this forum that may be of a help to anyone....
it's my second in the area but no mas I'm afraid...

I knew the path was a regular MB used track therefore I put the warning here..

Oh, I had not noticed it was in MBing
Well, I shall re-frase: the Mbikes can fall off with the roadies
I have shared in GoBike, it has already been picked up by Free Wheel North.
Last time I shared a problem there about the Scotstoun track, it got fixed by the relevant authority.
Big Brother is watching, he may not always act, but he watches

So the lad gives other cyclists a head up to look out for a potential problem on a route that might be known to them and they might not expect an obstacle and you think it's acceptable to disrespect them for doing so.

Maybe we should all stop pointing out potholes and issues when we are group riding too?

No, it was a useful heads up, but as I said, folk have different expectations as to what constitutes off road riding, hence my (only half joking)post about jumping the trench. The stw link I posted shows how parts of the MTB community react to trail sanitising. Now we know it's a NCN route and used by allcomers it changes the timbre entirely.

Good work for reporting it.
