Could look at an ebike??

I find it lets me get out for longer and go further and this opens up more places to go to

and this then increase the motivation to get out more

and - YES - they do count - just not as much
but if you go out for longer and more often then is all adds up
and you can run them on low assist levels or even switch the motor off for some sections!!!

Assuming that you don't go for an e-bike, my advice is to make sure that you have a very low bottom gear for the hills!

I suggest that the smallest chainring (front cog) has fewer teeth than the biggest sprocket (rear cog), and the bigger the difference, the better.

With a low enough gear ratio you can get up most hills as long as you take your time.

Absolutely (low gear). I've already modified the existing bike with lower gearing, but in reality I need a dinner plate on the rear wheel ;)

Can't bring myself to go for an ebike (despite the fact I've always been bad up hills). Stubborn pride maybe!
