Well I've been trying to book a train ticket, but East Coast keeps thwarting me with Fatal Errors. Perhaps it's not meant to be.

East Coast? I thought it was to the south coast?

Is that where I've been going wrong?

You can book cycle spaces online with East Coast, which is crucial as the cheapo tix are non-flexible. Know any other websites that let you do that?

I've always gone to the railways station...Southern used to let you book cycle spaces. But when you turned up for the train.......

No, sorry TC. I know very little about trains. I just turn up at Brighton and get on. Southern and First Connect have always been pretty helpful and the only restriction is arriving in London at peak time in the morning and leaving it in the evening.

Can you put me down please Simon, assuming there's still some room left! We've been attempting to sate out thirst for FNRttCs with some informal Definitely Not Friday Night Rides to the Coast, but have been thwarted by icy conditions since the last FNRttC of last season. I need to feed my addiction, and I've already blown off the February WARTY in favour of this.

definitely. And it's good to hear from you.

The reason for the alarm on my face the other day was that barely two hours earlier I'd seen a cyclist go over on black ice on the very bit of tarmac you were speeding over. I was a couple of hundred yards behind, and, seeing him fall, steered right. Happily he was young and well-padded, and seemed quite cheery about it, but it was a spectacular off.
  1.
Please. Otherwise it'll be another lonely night on CycleChat - again...

Yikes, my entire route from Croydon to Liverpool Street seemed entirely ice free, aside from the initial snow I cycled on outside my house for a few hundred feet. It never occurred to me that there may be ice around there.

I didn't even realise it was you until you almost passed me, I don't think I've seen you without your yellow top. Wearing blue confused me (not hard admittedly!)

When I caught up with the WARTYers later on, they had already had at least three offs, none too serious, and luckily no more after I joined them. Auntie Helen apparently also did a quite spectacular 180° spin on the ice!

How quaint! I might give it a try, just to see what it was like in the Olden Days.
