Just to say hi - and this looks like a great forum.

I guess at almost 50 years old i'm looking for a way to get fit again, and low impact seems the way for me.

Ive been 'ummm' ing and 'aarrhh' ing for a while, and after a reasonable ammount of research i'm going to probably (80% certain) plumb for a 2nd hand road bike.
Were currently on our hols up in Scotland in Lossiemouth, and I wish I had a bike with me as around here it is more stunning than i'd imagined.

Experience - nil

Freindly - very

Underpant size - XL (currently).

A word of advice from a 54 year old new to road riding: try to get a sportiff bike; these are road bikes with drop bars but a more comfortable riding position for older riders who don't fancy the arse in the air position of a racer. Two examples that I know of are Specialized Roubaix and Ribble do a sportiff model though it's quite garish. Most other manufacturers do one as well. If you can find it, go for a good steel or carbon frame in preference to aluminium, which you will find uncomfortable.
