International delivery routes

I've had to post my Fly12 back to Australia for a fault diagnosis so I used Royal Mail's tracked & insured service. I tracked it as it left the local post office, went to a mail centre then on to Heathrow, where it was passed over to Australian postal services.

The odd bit comes when I follow the tracker on auspost.com.au, it shows my package is en route to Perth, Western Australia from ... Ascension Island.

Is this normal? Has someone given it to @postman and he's gone on holiday with it?.

I think it is an oddity with Aussie tracking.

Refuelling stop maybe? Not a clue beyond that to be honest!

I went to school with a kid from Ascension. He was absolutely bonkers.
