Lack of amateur rides to participate in

Oh, and I'd second the 'organise a CycleChat ride' suggestion. I've organised quite a few and met some really nice people off the forum. E.g. this ride and this one.

I did do my first 100km ride two weeks ago so I'm quite happy to do that. (I regularly do 75-80km) They just seemed to be aimed at the 150-200km range which is too far, at least for now.

It's a bit late in the Audax calendar so you'll have missed quite a few 100km rides. Some areas are better served than others for the shorter, i.e., 100km rides.

Not all audax events are huge distances...
